Training Program: Broken Bridge in the Air

  • Introduction about this program:

It is supposed to be a complete bridge but unfortunately it is broken - two pieces of wooden board hanging in the air about 10 meters above the ground. The distance between the two boards is about 1.5 meters. The trainees must jump from one board to the other in order to climb down to the ground on their own.

  • The goal for this training program:

    • Never back off for the sake of comfort and easiness. Always step forward!
    • Conquer the fear of heights and psychological stress; build up self-confidence, enhance self-control and strengthen the decision-making ability.
    • The "broken bridge" may be the chock point of your career or even your entire life. If you cross the broken bridge, you will be brave and pro-active enough to successfully get over all the difficulties and problems that may occur in your life.
    • It is not you can not do it; it is you dare not do it. It is not about your ability; it is about your psychology - the psychology showing initiative and willingness to move forward and improve yourself in full sail on a continuous basis.
  • Trainees' Feeling:

Shawn: "I feel like the broken bridge is a huge challenge for me. I never thought that I could stride it over! I was in fear and trembling when I stood on the wooden board in the air. It's 10 meters, dude! I knew that I would not die if I fell off the board, but I just couldn't help trembling there. I would be more comfortable if I just backed off and sat down and took a cup of coffee... Anyway, my shivering legs decided to jump. I can't believe I made it! Now I am not afraid of leaping over the lovely bridge any more. I think I have more confidence in myself now."

Training Program: Blind Phalanx

  • Introduction about this program:

All the trainees are blind with their eyes covered by cloth. The trainees stand in a circle first and must draw the rope to the shape of a square within 20 minutes. They are allowed to communicate with each other whatever way they like except shaking off the cloth cover on their eyes.

  • The goal for this training program:

    • Exercise teamwork and coordination ability.
    • Enhance problem solving skills when working with a team.
  • Trainees' Feeling:

Eric: "That was a mess when we began this program. Everyone was declaring himself and airing his opinions but obviously there was no progress at all. Half of the permitted time was running out and we must have a real team leader! I suggested that we divide the work to four groups; each group stands for a side of the square and has a person to be the group leader; each group leader needs to be take care of the side where he stands and the angles between each side. Finally, we shaped the rope into a square. It feels very good when you successfully complete the tasks. I think teamwork is really important for us to get amazing results."

Ray: "If we do not work with each other, if no one takes the responsibility upon himself, we cannot complete any tasks no matter how simple the task is!"

Training Program: Graduation Wall

  • Introduction about this program:

All the trainees have to climb the wall for the sake of graduation from the outdoor training course. They are not allowed to take advantage of any outside force. The climbing person cannot have their feet touch the wall. So in brief, all the trainees must climb over the wall by teamwork using their bodies and manpower.

  • The goal for this training program:

    • Exercise how to make concerted effort.
    • Enhance collaboration abilities.
  • Trainees' Feeling:

Caven: "That wall is unbelievably too high! There was no resource for us to use at all and what we could rely on was our manpower and teamwork. After trying several times we finally found an effective way to climb over the wall. The whole process was very interesting and memorable."
